The question voters will answer today is how much closer this election brings us to an inevitable future where access to food, housing, and healthcare, including abortion, are inherent rights — not political bargaining chips.

TEXAS — With all eyes on Texas, voters will today choose leaders to represent us in federal, state, and local offices. Texas’ Early Voting turnout broke records, rising to the highest seen since the 1990s.
As an abortion-forward organization contending for reproductive justice governance, Avow has mobilized fellow Texans to use their power at the ballot box to elect candidates who will fight alongside us for our access to healthcare, food, public education, housing, and communities free of gun violence and state-sanctioned violence.
Regardless of today’s election outcome, we vow to hold those elected officials accountable to Texans. Not billionaire donors. Not right or left. Not red or blue. We know that everyday Texans set the agenda for where a party that delivers for working families needs to go.
Avow Texas Executive Director raven e. Freeborn (they/them) issued the following statement:
“Each election is a building block that moves us toward a future where reproductive justice governs at the center, and we’re able to thrive, not merely survive. The question voters will answer today is how much closer this election brings us to that inevitable future.
“We hope that three decades of Republican-dominated governance end today. Yet, as Texas organizers, we plan for a sustained fight regardless because we know that one election will not overturn Texas’ abortion ban or tear down the system of oppression that punishes Texans for seeking healthcare and criminalizes our pregnancy outcomes.
“Regardless of today’s election results, we’re proud of our endorsed candidates up and down the ballot who’ve unapologetically championed reproductive justice, economic justice, and abortion rights on the campaign trail. These candidates understand that we cannot improve our economic reality without access to abortion — and by destigmatizing abortion as candidates, they’ve moved us closer to the future we deserve.
“Texans will no longer numbly accept leadership that governs through punishment and cruelty. We are fighting for the power to ensure Texans can live in communities with the resources to thrive. We are voting for leaders who will help us build a Texas where access to food, housing, and healthcare, including abortion, are inherent rights — not political bargaining chips. We will hold them accountable to that vision, no matter who is elected to lead us on the state and national stage today.”
