Resources listed, especially larger food banks, may have partner pantries and sites aside from their main distribution centers. Statewide:
- United Way – For help anytime, dial 2-1-1 or call 877-541-7905 for free, confidential, multilingual assistance.
- Feeding America – national network of over 200 foodbanks.
Austin, TX
- Central Texas Food Bank – Use “Find Food Now” link or call; typical partner pantry info includes once every 30 days, first‐come first‐served. Requirements: Live in service area; bring bags/cart; some partner pantries require proof of residence.
- City of Austin Neighborhood Centers
Regular office hours check specific centers for food aid referrals.
Requirements: Must live in the center’s service area; bring ID/residence info as required by the individual center.
Amarillo, TX
- High Plains Food Bank – 815 Ross St, Amarillo, TX 79102. Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm for “Get Help” info. Requirements: Proof of residence/ID likely required; agency serves the Texas Panhandle.
- Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle (Interfaith Hunger Project) – Free monthly supply for low‐income or disabled persons via the InterFaith Hunger Project. Requirements: Must live on fixed income or have a disability.
Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas
- North Texas Food Bank – Many pantries partner Monday-Friday. Requirements: Live in a service area of 13 DFW counties.
- Harmony Community Development Corporation – Food Pantry
Serving Southern Dallas zip codes, emergency basis first time; ongoing services monthly (if household income below TEFAP-guidelines. Requirements: Household income must be below a certain threshold for monthly service; other residents eligible quarterly. - North Dallas Shared Ministries – Clients must live within their service area and Clients must provide photo ID and proof of address.Food Pantry services are available Monday through Saturday. Must apply in person.
Houston, TX
- Houston Food Bank – Serves 18 counties in Southeast Texas and has over 1,500 partner sites. Use their “Find Help” locator to identify partner sites and times throughout southeast Texas.
- Wesley Community Center Food Pantry – 1235 Lorraine St., Houston, TX 77009. Wednesdays & Fridays 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; Thursday walk-up 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Requirements: All clients needing emergency food; bring valid ID and proof of address.
- Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry – Address: 3523 Beauchamp St., Houston, TX 77009. Hours: Thursdays 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.; Saturdays 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Requirements: Photo ID + a mail/utility bill showing Houston area address; serves all Houston ZIP codes.
- MESA‑Outreach, Inc. Food Pantry – 16000 Rippling Water Dr., Houston, TX 77084. Hours: Thursdays (1st 4 weeks of the month) – Seniors 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., other families 4:30 p.m.–7:00 p.m. (by appointment) Requirements: Appointment only; currently serves ZIP codes 77449, 77095, 77084, 77433, 77041, 77043, 77094, 77079; need current photo ID, proof of address, and complete registration form.
El Paso, TX
- El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank – Partner food-distribution map and schedule published; open Monday at 8:00 am (while partner agency operation days vary) for the main food bank. Requirements: Serves El Paso, Hudspeth & Culberson Counties; free assistance for food & SNAP help.
- Kelly Center for Hunger Relief – Community members can visit once each week. When you visit the pantry we will request your: name, address, # of individuals in household, and monthly household income. Recommended you bring a form of identification when visiting the pantry – and a cart or box to take home the food you receive.
San Antonio, TX
- San Antonio Food Bank – Walk-in Food Assistance: Mon–Fri 8 am–5 pm. Phone line: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm; Sat 9 am–3 pm. Client Services team is can provide referrals: Monday-Friday | 8 AM – 6PM & Saturday 9AM – 3PM, 210.431.8326
Rio Grand Valley
- Rio Grand Valley Foodbank – Emergency Food Pantry on-site for people in need of emergency food assistance. Requirements: I.D. and proof of address, such as a utility bill. The food bank has 275 partner agencies across Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties. 956-682-8101 and select option 2 for more information or a referral.
West Texas
- West Texas Food Bank – Serving the Midland, Odessa, and west Texas.
You may be asked to show an ID when you are checked in. You may use the WTFB drive-thru pantry once a month. You are asked to work with one of our 100+ partner agencies should you need food more than once a month. Partner food distribution sites can be found here.
