Protect Local Travel Funds – Submit your comment!

In the wake of Texas’s total abortion ban, tens of thousands of Texans are forced to flee the state to get essential health care each year. The costs of travel, lodging, missing work, and childcare push access out of reach — but cities like Austin and San Antonio are stepping up to fill the gap with local travel funds for abortion care.

Abortion travel funds help Texans get the care they need — but extremists in the Texas Legislature want to ban them with a new bill, SB 33. It’s a blatant attack on local control and free speech — and this is our last chance to make our voices heard in a public hearing.

The Texas House committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday and we need to flood the comments with opposition to the bill. It just takes a few minutes to make your voice heard and stand up to this outrageous attack on local control.

I’m writing to urge you to oppose SB 33, a dangerous bill that would strip local governments of their ability to support Texans in need of essential health care.

With abortion banned in Texas, thousands of Texans are forced to travel out of state for care each year. The costs of travel, lodging, childcare, and missed work make access nearly impossible for many—but local abortion travel funds help fill that gap. Cities like Austin and San Antonio are stepping up to support their residents, and they should have the right to do so without state interference.

SB 33 is a blatant attack on local control and free speech, designed to make it even harder for Texans to get the care they need. I urge you to stand against this harmful bill and protect the rights of local governments to support their communities.

Please vote NO on SB 33. Texans are watching.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

FIGHT THE TEXAS ABORTION BAN

SB 8 bans abortion as early as 6 weeks and puts a $10,000 bounty on anyone who helps someone get abortion care. Now more than ever, we need unapologetic abortion rights advocates to lay the groundwork to defeat anti-abortion lawmakers.

Chip in to organize Texans to restore abortion access in our state. The organizing we do today determines the gains we make in 2022.
