No one should be forced to stay pregnant if they can’t or don’t want to be. No one should be arrested for having a miscarriage or an abortion, or for helping someone they love get the care they need. Join us in building a Texas where we can all control our own bodies and futures.

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe, pregnancy-related arrests have skyrocketed. Thousands of people have been subjected to arrest and even imprisonment for the crime of making their own decisions about their pregnancy — even in states where abortion is still legal.

Abortion bans have far-reaching consequences that impact access to the full range of reproductive health services. Abortion criminalization exacerbates the surveillance and criminalization of pregnant people. When abortion is criminalized, any pregnancy outcome can become the target of investigation, whether you experience a miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, or even birth.

Furthermore, there exists a deeply ingrained racist double standard within our legal and healthcare systems. Black and brown people, immigrants, and other marginalized communities are disproportionately targeted for criminalization and are less likely to receive adequate healthcare services.

This unsettling reality becomes even more pronounced when considering that individuals are typically reported by someone they know and trust, such as friends, partners, or medical providers. In tandem with laws like the Texas “abortion bounty,” this culture of criminalization creates a climate of fear, isolation, and confusion that harms those in need of care. When someone decides to have an abortion, they should be able to rely on the help and support of friends and family without the constant fear of criminal prosecution.

The anti-abortion extremists are not going to stop at banning abortion in Texas; their ultimate goal is to intimidate people with the threat of criminalization. But we aren’t going anywhere either. We need abortion care with love and compassion - not punishment and fear of state violence. Join the fight for our dignity, power, and freedom.

We need your voice and support to fight for our dignity, power, and freedom. Stand with us, and together, we can ensure that no one is punished or lives in fear for seeking the care they need.
