The death penalty for abortion?!

If Texas anti-abortion lawmakers have their way, people could be taken from their homes, arrested, imprisoned, and put on death row for having an abortion.

Right now, our state lawmakers are pushing 53 bills to punish and intimidate Texans for having an abortion. Meanwhile, Texas families are still reeling from the fallout of the worst natural disaster in recent history and the public health and economic crisis created by the pandemic.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and anti-abortion extremists are showing their true colors: They’ll stop at nothing to punish Texans for abortion and care more about scoring political points than helping families.

On top of a death penalty bill, anti-abortion lawmakers have introduced a slew of new restrictions, including a ban on abortion before most people even know they’re pregnant.

They even want to create a free-for-all of civil suits against anyone who supports a Texan getting an abortion! That would open the door for a rapist to sue doctors and rape counselors if a survivor get an abortion after the assault.

Texans deserve better than politically-motivated attacks on abortion. Together, we can build a Texas where every person is trusted, thriving, and free to pursue the life they want.

Instead of trying to ban abortion before most people even know they’re pregnant, Texas deserves lawmakers who can keep the lights on.

Instead of trying to overturn Roe v. Wade, Texas needs a successful vaccine rollout to protect us from the pandemic.

And instead of trying to force people to carry nonviable pregnancies to term, we deserve lawmakers who will expand access to Medicaid to help reduce our shameful maternal mortality rate.

Progressive lawmakers are responding to Texans needs by proposing bills that would make birth control more available and ensure everyone can access reproductive health care, including abortion, by expanding insurance coverage and removing medically unnecessary barriers.

It’s time for the extremism to stop. Add your name and send a message to Lt. Gov. Patrick and anti-abortion extremists: Texans demand real solutions, not abortion bans.

FIGHT THE TEXAS ABORTION BAN

SB 8 bans abortion as early as 6 weeks and puts a $10,000 bounty on anyone who helps someone get abortion care. Now more than ever, we need unapologetic abortion rights advocates to lay the groundwork to defeat anti-abortion lawmakers.
